Post Reflections 2007

this is a yearly routine that i will blog about how the year have went by, to take stock, did some reflections.. but no resolutions.. and this post come earlier than what i expected as i foresee the rest of 2 months will be just lectures, tutorials, projects, test and exams.

this year, i find it plain sailing as i finally got into poly thru the long route, get to know new friends, widen the circle of friends and get to know the full value of 'networking'.

but what this post is going to be so different from the others is that i going to make a "bare-all" confession..

for the first time in my 24 years of life, i regret doing something that is so silly and stupid that i find it hard to forgive myself. people say its a small matter, but the action that i have done is enough to leave a scar on it.. time maybe a healing factor, but the awkwardness is evident for all to see..

right now, what i can do the very least is to honour what i have promise.. i dont want to give any impression that what i promise will be broken..

Hat-trick

i nearly kana another 4 girls and 1 guy team again.. or else i would have a hat-trick..

first time when i have such a group, it was an Interdisciplinary Studies (IS) module. Being new in school and no classmates to accompany, i just took a seat in the classroom and somehow 4 girls came in and sit beside me. After playing an ice-breaker game and the tutor ask to form a group, we just form according to where we sit. i dont mind at all as i thought it will only last for 4 months.

how wrong am i when it happened again in the new semester. And so i got another group for the second time.

but for the third time, the approach was different. it has nothing to do with the sitting plan or ice-breaker game that we play. 3 girls approached me to form a project group while having tutorial. i was like, "we got 6 guys in class and yet you all choose me first.." i was stunned but at the same time, tell them about the plight that i have gone thru and intend to have another guy to accompany..

heng ah.. if not is a 3 girls and 1 guy team..

Donuts

a few months back, there was a craze going on.. if anyone recalled, donuts was the "in" thing at that time..

at first was a teen who set up an online website where people can order Dunkin Donuts online. i wonder what the hassle when he could have set up a franchise right in Singapore. But then again, capital cost, rent and manpower are out of reach, fair enough.

and in overnight, people decided that this is another pie to grab hold on as its going to be a trend before it fizzles out like bubble tea and coffee bread.

people are willing to queue for 2 hrs just for an associated favour donut. i think now the craze have died down and the queue is now within 30 minutes as there are other shops selling the same favour.. in business sense, supply exceed demand.. prices should have gone down.. even my area also sell donuts at $1 per piece, but no one is buying.. hah, got in at the wrong time..

frankly speaking, i have not tried any of the donuts yet as it just a piece of bread with sugar coated cream.. and when i disturb my friends about getting donuts everyday, this was her reply, "i think i getting sick of it.. im having it everytime since the craze started.. now is very norm and very gilat(sick of eating).."

my prediction for donuts: it will lasts longer than bubble tea and coffee bread, those main players will stay, but for those trying out their luck, i think they will wound up by next apr to jun..

PS: Dont take the prediction too seriously, i could be wrong.

Cannot Make It

im going to declare this sem as Cannot Make It.. tutors cannot make it, lectures cannot make it.. im going for the lectures for the sake of marking attendance.. im going for tutorials for the sake of getting participation marks.. self study is the way to go now..

let me give an example:

apparently we are assigned to a tutor in hell at the last min.. she marked attendance when the hand of the clock stuck at 12 sharp.. there was no grace period of 15 mins when people came late.. she gives a whole new meaning to what tutorial means when she didnt go thru tutorial questions.. i have no problem with that as i able to gain more.. but i have a situation, the room temperature was too cold for our liking.. and the tutor was going thru a notion of telling us that if we were to have internship at Finland, we cant opt out in the midst of internship just because of the weather.. but hello, we will have make preparations well knowing that Finland is a cold country..

so one of the classmate switch off all the air con.. and guess what is the temperature when we went to take a look after the tutorial? 18 degree celsius!! this one call room temperature ah..

so sarcastic towards students and yet dont bothered to check the temperature when it is too cold to our liking.. this is indeed a good example of "tutor from hell"..

Depressed or what??

these few days, i had difficulty in sleeping and having trouble finishing a meal.. even a Macdonald meal i also cant finish.. wth..

hey, all these are symptoms of depression leh.. but im dont feel depressed at all leh.. donno why sia..

it has nothing to do with any problem at the moment as we are back on talking terms.. talking terms only hor.. dont think so much..

edit: due to personal reasons, have to take out some sentences..

last time if i got any problems i still can keep it inside.. now, very hard liao.. have to talk then can feel better.. argh..

oh well.. just blog to rant it out.. *yawn*

fate play me out..

I had a bad feeling when i was going from my lecture to my tutorial.. the feeling came when i was at the library.. i was going down the spiral staircase when i saw someone's fren..

"wah, siao liao.. if she is here, the chances of spotting her is very high.."

true enough, i was at the mid of the staircase, when the eyes met.. i stand rooted without moving a step.. my mind was asking me to turn back and go another way.. but i donno why i just move on..

i was not angry, but rather move at a faster pace..

but what puzzled me was the body language she have shown it to me..

-why was her head bowed when i should be the one doing it??

fruit "in" the bottle

Just went to nadnut site and saw her latest post.. she maybe right about been a man, maybe i should contribute my point of view as it doesnt seem to be a bed of roses as a man!!

Finally.....

Today went to school for the Citibank Stock Challenge.. damn nice and interesting to play..

and finally got the handphone that i have been eyeing since it is out.. damn happy..

going to take a rest before going to work later..

Randomness

School have started and is one hell of a roller-coaster ride..

First day of school kana one weird lecturer asking us to play an ice-breaker game to know whose birthday come first without talking, but using hand signals..

Second day no school, stay at home and rot..

Third day, only the first lecture, the lecturer lose the laptop.. and finish the class in one hour, and we have to rot in school for 4 hours before the next lesson.. lucky i bring my external hard-disk to watch movies..

Fourth day nothing much, only 2 hours of lecture then go back home..

Today, the worst of all.. IS modules, Sports and Wellness and C.A.T.S (Creative Applied Thinking Skills).. the latter module, i donno whether is it im suay or what.. the formation of the group was randomly picked that i kana 1 guy and 4 girls team again.. Needless to say, i go "wah lan eh!!"

Overall Update

7 weeks of holidays, doing 2 jobs (why no one believes me), what more do i have to ask for??

work-wise, it's definitely having fun.. learning from mistakes and gaining invaluable experience. and i requested to come back to work during the holidays, pay will also be more.. no need to go thru agent.. hehe..

in a few days time, school restarts and other people are feeling refreshed for a new term, while im longing for a break.. sigh, look like im the one asking for it..

by the way, i have been posting alot of entries for a new handphone since donno when, and from what i foresee, with no last min request or any mishaps, i will be getting a new hp next week. and yes, im getting a N73. i have been targetting that hp since it is out, and everytime when i can get it, there is always some unfortunately events happening..

Here is some details of my working experience as i cant reveal much due to sensitivity.

Working experience: Shiok, is like i fit into the environment seamlessly
Lunch break: more than 1 hr, lol.. no one will check on it

Anyway, i dont have anything to blog at this moment of time, hence the update could be quite long. I think i might enjoy my 2 months of holidays more than anyone else.

Shortest interview i ever had

I had an interview scheduled at 3pm at a certain government agency recommended by my agent. The recommendation was so good that she forgotten my area of accessibility. What to do, still have to go for the interview.

I prepared all the documents, wear formal and then they say no need. Wah lan eh, but anyway, the file that i prepared is on standby mode.

The interview was done by 2 minutes the moment those ladies from finance department came in. I can still remembered those questions they ask:

- Can you tell us about your previous working experience?
- What is your job scope beside helping your warehouse supervisor?
- What excel functions you know how to do?

The last question got me off the hook: What do you do during your free time?

Somehow my mind was telling me, you are hired. True enough, my agent call me and ask me to report for work this wed. Alas, have to wear formal liao.

I like the title they have given despite the post of an accounts assistant: Finance officer. Woohoo!! Resume also look nice nice.

Preparing for the worst

Taking a quick time out to blog and update some stuff.

- Called up for reservist in the midst of my examination periods. 2nd time Government called me during this period of time. But lucky, i have solved the problem by sending the letter stating that im a full time student.

- Examinations. When i saw the modules and the date of the examinations, my jaws dropped and eyes widen big big. Business Law, Business Management, Marco-economics and Principle of Accounting. Two theory modules in a space of 1 day, im expecting the worst for Business Management.

- Work. I never knew to get a part time job with CCA and other misc work is so hard to juggle. Hopefully, by the time my exams finish, it will all be solved.

Gotta go, time to stuff my brain with all the Business Management notes. God, help me.
